Electric x GIAF x Bill Brewster // Privacy

  • Electric Garden & Theatre 36 Upper Abbeygate Street Galway Ireland (map)

To kick off our lineup as part of the Galway International Arts Festival this year, Electric presents Bill Brewster in the Garden whilst Epoch presents Privacy in Factory #GIAF2017 #allNightLong

Bill Brewster, DJ extraordinaire and human music–encyclopedia consistently demonstrates sheer dance floor dedication. Brewster is a lover of many different forms of music, as well as a renowned writer and journalist.

In a previous life Bill has been a chef, a football pundit (co-editor of fanzine When Saturday Comes) and record collector. Bill cut his teeth DJing in the late 80s playing ‘Low Life’ warehouse parties in Harlem and the East Village. Throughout the latter half of the '90s, he operated a handful of labels: 5XO-294, Sugar Daddy, and the U.K. arm of Twisted.

To large crowds, he can be seen playing tough and funky house music, while at more intimate events he has been known to charm with everything from dubby disco, funk and hip-hop to trip hop and Latin batucadas. Armed with a sensitivity and sense of occasion that few DJs possess, Bill Brewster knows how to work a party in the best possible sense.

The Epoch Clubnight crew bring "Privacy" to Factory on the same night to round out a stellar line up.

PRIVACY by name, privacy by nature. In the age of DJ selfies and heavy press promotion, Privacy stands out as an anomaly. Not much is known about the artist, except for the fact that he is currently operating out of Berlin, and that his music seriously kicks

As well as several well-received releases on labels such as Lobster Theremin, Klasse Wrecks, and Valcrond Video, his touring schedule has seen him play at some of the world’s best parties, from New York to Tokyo and all over Europe. His appearance in Factory for the Galway International Arts Festival marks his much-anticipated Irish debut. Expect Detroit-styled Electro, roughed-up House music, and all forms of electronic body music.

Warming up Factory will be local boy Conor Connolly. Having spent the last few years honing his skills and building his record collection, Conor has already impressed with sets for both Epoch and Bap to the Future. We have high hopes for this guy, and we can’t wait to hear the marker he sets down for Privacy.
