Pioneering figures in London and NYC’s long lasting love affair with indie-tronica, Joe Goddard and Alexis Taylor (Hot Chip) have been responsible for more successful dance-floors than you’ve had avocado toast. Hot Chip, have captivated club and festival audiences both as a duo and alongside a touring band who consist of Felix Martin, Owen Clarke, and Al Doyle. Having formed in 2000, by 2005 the band had already been given all necessary signs of approval from inside the industry as a sign-on with Moshi Moshi was quickly followed by a record deal with NYC’s DFA Records. Hot Chip’s ferocious rise to fame continued, and their sophomore album (distributed by EMI in the UK), landed them the commercial success they’re known for today. Both ‘Shake a Fist’, and ‘Ready for the Floor’, would appear on Made in the Dark and, for those who hadn’t yet acquainted themselves with DFA, Hot Chip’s global appeal was born, almost instantaneously overnight. And, another 3 records on as many labels have put the band in the same conversations as the likes of LCD Soundsystem, and Bloc Party. Joe, Alexis, Owen, Al, and Felix have have flown the flag for a scene that’s steeped in club culture and yet is easy to overlook. They’ve been influencers to, and influenced by, some of club culture’s most the iconic residents: maybe most notably Erol Alkan. But through all of this and perhaps most poignantly, Hot Chip, like LCD Soundsystem remind us that dance is human and that dance music, is an inherently humane expression of the self.

GASH Collective are a collective focused on providing a platform to encourage women to create, share and collaborate together in the field of electronic music in Ireland. Through safe space initiatives, carefully curated parties and events, as well as production and DJ workshops, GASH intends to shine a light on female identifying producers and DJs in Ireland.
Gash bring Karen Gwyer to Galway. Karen Gwyer’s recordings and live performances tread the far edges of techno, and her DJ sets venture out even further. Careening back and forth between beats and ambience, it’s a deeply transporting psychedelic electronic expedition.
